NH 4113

New Holland NH 4113 – ATC (Armrest Tractor Controller) or Primary Hydraulic Power System / EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) controller: Remote No.1 Spool not in neutral at key on

Issue description

This code triggers when the tractor's ignition key is turned on and the system detects that the electro-hydraulic remote (EHR) valve spool for remote #1 is not in its centered, neutral position. This is a safety mechanism to prevent unexpected hydraulic movement or implement actuation upon startup.

Applies to these machines

  • T6 Series (T6010, T6020, T6030, T6050, T6070)
  • T7 Series (T7.170, T7.210, T7.220, T7.235, T7.250, T7.260, T7.270)
  • T8 Series (T8.xxx)
  • T9 Series
  • TM Series (TM175, MXM/TM)

Check the cause

  1. Verify that the in-cab remote #1 control lever/paddle on the armrest is physically returning to the center/neutral detent.

  2. Check the EHR flow control potentiometer on the armrest for dead spots or erratic voltage readings.

  3. Inspect the wiring harness running between the armrest controller and the rear remote #1 valve for chafed wires, corrosion, or loose pins.

  4. Test the spool position sensor (LVDT/potentiometer) on the rear remote valve slice for out-of-range signals.

Repair steps

  1. Key Off & Inspect

Turn off the tractor. Physically inspect and clean the remote #1 control paddle on the armrest. Ensure there is no debris preventing it from centering.

  2. Key On Test

Turn the key on without starting the engine. If the code clears, the issue was likely a physically stuck paddle. If the code persists, proceed to electrical testing.

  3. Inspect Connections

Disconnect the electrical connector at the rear remote #1 valve. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and apply dielectric grease. Reconnect and retest.

  4. Test/Replace Sensors

If the wiring is intact, use a multimeter or dealer diagnostic tool to monitor the voltage of the armrest potentiometer and the valve spool sensor.

  5. Replace Faulty Component

If the armrest potentiometer is failing to read neutral, replace the armrest potentiometer switch. If the rear valve sensor is faulty, replace the sensor or the remote valve slice (depending on whether the sensor is serviceable separately on your specific model).

  6. Recalibrate

After replacing any EHR components, you must recalibrate the remote valves using the tractor's diagnostic menu (e.g., accessing the "HK menu" on the U1 controller for rear EHR valves via the instrument cluster).
