NH 4114

New Holland NH 4114 – Armrest Module (ARU) or Primary Hydraulic Power System: Rear Remote No.2 – No Control Message Received

Issue description

The tractor's main control system has lost CAN bus communication with the electronic controller (slice) mounted on the second rear hydraulic remote valve. The system is expecting a status or control message from the valve's spool controller, but the signal is missing or timing out.

Applies to these machines

  • T7.220
  • T7.235
  • T7.250
  • T7.260
  • T7.270
  • T7.175
  • T7.300
  • T7.315
  • T9 Series
  • TM 175

Check the cause

  1. Wiring Harness Inspection: Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness running from the tractor's Armrest/Main controller to the rear remote valve block. Look for chafed wires, breaks, or pinch points.

  2. Connector Check: Disconnect the electrical plug at Rear Remote Valve No. 2. Check for pushed-out pins, corrosion, or moisture ingress, which are common causes of communication loss.

  3. Voltage & Ground: Verify that the remote valve slice is receiving proper operating voltage and has a clean ground connection.

  4. System-Wide Check: Check if other rear remotes (No. 1, No. 3, etc.) are throwing similar codes (e.g., 4100, 4128). If multiple valves are offline, the issue is likely a shared power supply, a blown fuse, or a main CAN bus line failure rather than a single faulty valve.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to protect the electronic modules.

  2. Clean/Repair Connections

If corrosion or wiring damage was found during the diagnostic checks, clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, replace damaged connector pins, or splice/repair the broken CAN wires.

  3. Replace the Valve Slice

If the wiring, power, and ground are all verified as good, the electronic controller built into the Rear Remote Valve No. 2 slice has internally failed (EEPROM or driver failure). You will need to unbolt the No. 2 slice from the rear hydraulic valve stack and install a replacement.

  4. Recalibrate

After installing a new electro-hydraulic valve slice, reconnect the battery. You must perform a hydraulic system/remote valve calibration using the tractor's onboard diagnostic menu or a dealer service tool so the Armrest module can recognize and pair with the new valve.
