New Holland NH 4116 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) Valve Controller: Remote No.2 EEPROM Error

The internal memory (EEPROM) inside the electronic controller for the #2 rear electro-hydraulic remote (EHR) valve has become corrupted, failed a checksum verification, or suffered a hardware failure.

   Power cycle the tractor to rule out temporary memory read errors caused by transient voltage spikes

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector going to the #2 rear remote valve for corrosion, moisture, or damaged pins

   Perform a swap test by swapping the electrical connector of the #2 remote valve with the #3 remote valve. If the code changes to 4130, the internal failure is inside the valve slice. If it remains 4116, there is a communication or wiring issue on the tractor side

   Depressurize

   Turn off the engine and cycle the hydraulic remote levers/buttons to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical CAN/power connector from the #2 rear remote valve slice.

   Disassemble the Valve Stack

   Remove the hydraulic lines connected to the #2 slice. Unbolt the tie rods that hold the rear remote valve stack together.

   Remove and Replace

   Carefully slide out the defective #2 valve slice. Insert the replacement valve slice. Ensure all O-rings between the valve slices are present and undamaged; it is highly recommended to use new O-rings when reassembling the stack.

   Reassemble

   Torque the tie rods to the manufacturer's exact specifications (over-tightening can cause spool binding; under-tightening will cause leaks).

   Calibrate

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Turn on the tractor and use the in-cab display or the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST) to perform a hydraulic remote valve calibration.
