New Holland NH 4122 – EHR (Electronic Hydraulic Remote) Controller / ARU (Arm Rest Unit) / Aux Controller: Rear Remote No.2 - Float position not reached
Issue description
When the operator commands the #2 rear remote valve to the 'Float' position, the Electronic Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve actuates the spool. However, the internal spool position sensor fails to detect that the spool has physically traveled far enough to reach the float detent/position. This is typically caused by mechanical binding in the valve spool, a failing position potentiometer, or an out-of-calibration sensor.

Check the cause
Manually stroke the #2 remote valve back and forth (using the manual override levers on the valve body, if equipped) to clear any potential debris and check for physical spool binding.
Inspect the wiring harness and the connector at the #2 rear remote valve potentiometer for corrosion, moisture, or backed-out pins.
Look for other codes on Remote No.2 (such as 4124 Driver Faulty, 4125 Potentiometer Faulty, or 4118/4119 Voltage errors) which would point strictly to an electrical failure rather than a mechanical spool jam.
Attempt to run the EHR valve calibration procedure through the tractor's in-cab display. If the valve fails calibration, the sensor or valve section is faulty.
Repair steps
Relieve Pressure
Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements, turn off the engine, and cycle the hydraulic levers/joysticks to relieve residual hydraulic pressure.
Locate the Valve
Locate the rear remote valve stack at the back of the tractor and identify the #2 valve section.
Remove the Sensor
Disconnect the electrical harness from the potentiometer/position sensor located on the end cap of the #2 valve section. Unbolt and remove the sensor.
Inspect the Spool
Verify that the internal spool moves freely. If the spool is heavily scored, jammed, or the return spring is broken, the entire valve section will need to be removed and rebuilt/replaced.
Replace the Potentiometer
If the spool moves freely but the float position is not being read, the potentiometer has failed (a highly common issue). Install a new OEM potentiometer onto the valve body.
Reassemble
Reconnect the wiring harness to the new sensor.
Calibrate the Valve
Turn the tractor key to the ON position. Access the EHR calibration menu via the tractor's display monitor. Run the automated valve calibration sequence. The controller will stroke the valve to learn the new sensor's voltage limits for neutral, extend, retract, and float.
