New Holland NH 4127 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) Controller or ACM (Armrest Control Module): Remote No.2 Spool not in neutral at key on
Issue description
When the tractor's ignition key is turned to the ON position, the system runs a self-check. If the position sensor (LVDT) inside the electro-hydraulic remote valve detects that the spool for Remote Valve #2 is not resting in its designated neutral/center position, the system logs this fault and typically disables the valve for safety.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- New Holland T6 Series (T6010, T6020, T6030, T6040, T6050, T6060, T6070, T6.120 - T6.175)
- New Holland T7 Series (T7030, T7040, T7050, T7060, T7.170 - T7.270)
- New Holland T8 Series
- New Holland T9 Series
- New Holland TM Series (TM120, TM130, TM140, TM155, TM175, TM190)
Check the cause
Physical Switch Check: Verify that the Remote No. 2 toggle switch or fingertip lever on the armrest is physically returning to the center/neutral position and is not stuck due to debris or mechanical failure.
Harness Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at the rear Remote No. 2 valve. Look for corrosion, moisture, or damaged pins, which can send a false voltage reading to the controller.
Component Isolation (Swap Test): Swap the electrical connector from Remote No. 2 with an adjacent known-good remote valve (like Remote No. 1 or No. 3). Turn the key on. If the fault code changes to the other valve (e.g., NH 412X for Remote 3), the issue is in the cab switch or wiring. If the fault remains on Remote No. 2, the valve itself (or its internal position sensor) is stuck or faulty.
Calibration Attempt: Attempt to run the EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) valve calibration procedure through the tractor's instrument cluster or display monitor to see if the controller can successfully relearn the neutral set point.
Repair steps
Turn off tractor
If the Cab Switch is Faulty: Turn off the tractor and remove the key.
Remove trim panels
Remove the trim panels on the armrest console to access the underside of the remote valve toggle switches.
Disconnect pigtail
Disconnect the electrical pigtail from the Remote No. 2 switch.
Replace switch
Unclip and remove the faulty switch, then snap the replacement switch into the console.
Reassemble and test
Reconnect the wiring, reassemble the armrest, and test operation.
Relieve hydraulic pressure
If the Electro-Hydraulic Remote Valve is Faulty: Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements to the ground, turn off the engine, and cycle the remote levers to relieve all hydraulic pressure in the system.
Clean valve stack
Thoroughly clean the rear remote valve stack to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.
Disconnect harness
Disconnect the electrical harness from the Remote No. 2 valve assembly.
Remove mounting bolts
Remove the tie-bolts holding the valve stack together or the specific mounting bolts for the No. 2 valve slice (depending on the exact model's valve block configuration).
Remove faulty valve
Carefully remove the faulty remote valve assembly.
Install replacement valve
Install the replacement electro-hydraulic remote valve, ensuring all new O-rings and seals are properly seated between the valve slices.
Torque bolts and reconnect
Torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications and reconnect the electrical harness.
Perform calibration
Turn the key on and navigate to the tractor's diagnostic menu to perform the mandatory EHR valve calibration procedure so the controller can learn the new valve's neutral position.
Clear codes and test
Clear the stored fault codes, start the tractor, and check for hydraulic leaks and proper remote operation.
