New Holland NH 4134 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) controller or ATC (Armrest Tractor Controller): Remote No.3 Spool movement to low
Issue description
The electro-hydraulic controller commanded the spool for rear remote valve #3 to move, but the internal position sensor detected that the spool did not travel the expected distance. This is typically caused by a mechanically stuck spool, a faulty position sensor, or low pilot pressure.

Check the cause
Ensure the manual override lever on the valve body hasn't been accidentally activated or bumped.
Inspect the wiring harness and connector at Remote Valve #3 for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or damaged wires.
Check if the spool is physically stuck due to contaminated hydraulic fluid or internal scoring.
Verify that the low-pressure pilot line supplying the EHR control spool has adequate hydraulic pressure to physically move the spool.
Repair steps
Relieve Pressure
Turn off the tractor, lower all implements to the ground, and relieve hydraulic pressure before servicing the valve stack.
Clean and Reconnect
Disconnect the electrical harness to Remote #3. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and reconnect to rule out a poor connection. Clear the code and test operation.
Free the Spool
If the spool is mechanically binding, remove the valve slice, disassemble it, and clean out any debris or swarf. If the spool or bore is heavily scored, the entire valve section must be replaced.
Replace the Valve
If the internal electronics (microprocessor/sensor) have failed or the spool is damaged, replace the EHR valve section.
Reprogram Valve Number
If a new valve is installed, you must use the tractor's diagnostic interface to program its identity in the stack (assign it as Valve No. 3).
Calibrate Spool Travel
Perform an EHR spool travel calibration. This is strictly required anytime a valve or controller is replaced so the system learns the new full-travel limits of the spool.
