New Holland NH 4149 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) Controller: Rear Remote No.4 - Spool movement to high

The internal position transducer on the #4 rear remote hydraulic valve is detecting that the internal spool has traveled further than commanded, or the sensor reading is physically out of its expected voltage/resistance range.

   Perform a visual and mechanical inspection of the #4 remote valve slice for external damage and ensure the manual override is not stuck.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the #4 remote valve for corrosion, bent pins, or damage, and verify supply voltage and ground.

   Perform a swap test by swapping the electrical connection between Remote #3 and Remote #4 to isolate if the issue is internal to the valve or in the tractor's wiring/controller.

   Attempt to recalibrate the EHR remote valves using the tractor's instrument cluster (H-Menu) or diagnostic service tool.

   Safety First

   Lower all implements to the ground, turn off the engine, and relieve all hydraulic pressure in the system by cycling the remote levers/switches in the cab.

   Disconnect Wiring

   Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the #4 rear remote valve.

   Remove the Valve

   Unbolt the #4 remote valve slice/cartridge from the rear hydraulic valve stack. Be prepared to catch residual hydraulic oil.

   Inspect/Clean

   Inspect the spool for scoring, metal debris, or a broken centering spring. If the spool is physically binding due to contamination, it may be cleaned.

   Replace Component

   If the internal potentiometer/transducer is faulty, the electronic head or the entire valve slice must usually be replaced as an assembly.

   Reassemble

   Install the new or repaired remote valve slice into the valve stack. Torque the tie-rod bolts to the manufacturer's specification.

   Reconnect

   Reconnect the electrical harness to the valve.

   Calibrate

   Turn the key on and use the tractor's diagnostic interface or service tool to perform the EHR Remote Valve Calibration procedure.

   Test

   Start the tractor, test the #4 remote valve for proper operation, and ensure no leaks are present.
