NH 4153

New Holland NH 4153 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) Control Module: Rear Remote No.4 - Position Transducer Faulty

Issue description

The position sensor (potentiometer/transducer) responsible for monitoring the physical spool position of the 4th rear remote hydraulic valve is sending an invalid signal, has failed, or is experiencing an electrical circuit issue (such as an open or short circuit).

Applies to these machines

  • T6
  • T7
  • T8
  • T9
  • TM
  • TS
  • T6000 series
  • T6010-T6090
  • T7.170-T7.270
  • T8.275-T8.390
  • TS100A-TS135A
  • Puma
  • Maxxum
  • Magnum

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the 4th rear remote valve at the rear hydraulic stack. Check the wiring harness and connector (4-pin or 6-pin) for pushed-out pins, corrosion, or moisture ingress.

  2. Check for open circuits or shorts to ground in the wiring harness between the EHR controller and the No.4 remote valve potentiometer.

  3. Verify that the transducer is receiving the correct reference voltage from the EHR controller.

  4. Attempt to run the EHR calibration procedure via the tractor's display/monitor to see if the module can relearn the spool's neutral position.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and relieve all hydraulic pressure from the rear remotes.

  2. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical harness connector from the No.4 rear remote valve potentiometer/transducer.

  3. Remove

Unbolt and carefully remove the faulty position transducer from the end of the No.4 remote valve spool assembly.

  4. Install

Mount the new potentiometer/transducer onto the valve spool, ensuring the mechanical linkage/pin aligns correctly with the spool. Tighten to OEM torque specifications.

  5. Reconnect

Plug the wiring harness back into the new sensor.

  6. Recalibrate

Perform an EHR calibration procedure (using the tractor's onboard TCU/ETC diagnostic menu or a dealer service tool) so the controller can learn the new sensor's exact voltage values for the Neutral, Full Extend, and Full Retract positions.

  7. Clear Codes

Clear the NH 4153 fault code from the system memory and test the No.4 remote valve for proper operation.
