New Holland NH 4177 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) Controller or ARM (Armrest Module): EHR Control No. 3 not calibrated
Issue description
The electronic management system has lost the calibration values for the third electro-hydraulic remote (EHR) valve lever, or the calibration was aborted/failed.
Applies to these machines
17 machines- T6 Series
- T6.140
- T6000 Series
- T6030
- T6070
- T7 Series
- T7.220
- T7.235
- T7.250
- T7000 Series
- T7040
- T8 Series
- T8.390
- T9 Series
- T9.390
- T9.450
- T9.560
Check the cause
Ensure the #3 remote lever/joystick on the armrest is not physically stuck, obstructed, or damaged.
Check the wiring harness and connectors going to the EHR remote valve #3 at the rear stack and the armrest lever #3 for corrosion, loose pins, or damage.
Perform a swap test by swapping the wiring connections between the #2 and #3 remote levers/powerheads. If the fault moves to remote #2, the lever/switch is faulty. If it stays on #3, the issue is likely at the valve slice or main harness.
Repair steps
Park and secure tractor
Park the tractor on level ground away from obstacles, firmly apply the parking brake, and block the wheels. Ensure the ground speed display reads zero.
Disconnect implements
Disconnect all hydraulic implements from the rear remotes.
Turn off EHR switches
Ensure all EHR program switches are in the OFF position.
Install diagnostic tool
Install the New Holland diagnostic connector tool (Special Tool #380000843 or #380001903) into the tractor's diagnostic socket.
Navigate to calibration menu
Using the instrument cluster keypad (typically the "h", "m", and "dimming" keys), navigate the HH menu to H1 and locate the rear EHR symbol on the RK controller. The lower central display should show "CAL".
Initiate calibration
Depress the program switch for lever No. 3 three times to initiate its specific calibration.
Stroke the valve
Follow the on-screen prompts to stroke the valve back and forth. Note: If calibration fails the first time, stroke the valve back and forth a few times to clear any internal debris, then attempt the calibration again.
Clear codes or replace components
If the valve successfully calibrates, clear the fault codes. If it repeatedly fails calibration, the lever switch or the valve slice must be replaced and reprogrammed.
