Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the EHR control lever No. 4 (on the armrest) and the central controller/DU module for pinched wires, rubbed insulation, or connector corrosion.
Use a multimeter to check the specific harness pins for a short to ground or a short to power (e.g., check between the signal pin and the ground pin).
Perform a potentiometer sweep test using the onboard diagnostic display (e.g., H9 Channel 55 menu). Operate the No. 4 lever from the float position to the extend position and verify values change continuously (typically 10 to 90) without jumping erratically.
Repair steps
Repair Wiring
If the multimeter test indicates a short circuit in the harness, repair the damaged section of the wire or replace the EHR control valve wire harness.
Replace the Control Lever
If the harness tests good but the potentiometer sweep test fails, the fault is internal to the EHR control lever. Replace the individual EHR control lever assembly or the integrated electronic armrest control unit.
Perform Spool Calibration
After replacing the lever, valve, or controller, you must perform a spool travel calibration to prevent code NH 4180 and enable the remote.
Clear Codes
Once calibrated, clear the inactive error codes from the system and test the No. 4 remote for normal operation.
