NH 4192

New Holland NH 4192 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) Controller or ATC (Armrest Controller) / Main Vehicle Controller: No communications from (EHR) No.3.

Issue description

This fault code indicates that the tractor's main vehicle controller has completely lost CAN bus communication with the #3 Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve module. When this happens, the system cannot send or receive control messages to operate the third rear remote valve.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T6 Series
  • New Holland T6.125
  • New Holland T6.145
  • New Holland T6.160
  • New Holland T6.175
  • New Holland T7 Series
  • New Holland T7.220
  • New Holland T7.250
  • New Holland T7.270
  • New Holland T8 Series
  • New Holland T9 Series

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at the #3 rear remote valve for corrosion, moisture, bent pins, or physical damage.

  2. Verify that the #3 remote valve module is receiving proper 12V power and ground. A voltage drop can cause the module to drop off the CAN network.

  3. Check the CAN High and CAN Low lines between the armrest/main controller and the valve module for open circuits or shorts.

  4. Swap the electrical connector from the #3 remote valve with an adjacent, known-good remote valve (such as #2 or #4). If the fault code changes to the new valve number (e.g., NH 4193 for valve #4), the issue is in the wiring harness. If the fault remains with the #3 valve module, the valve's internal electronics have failed.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Park the tractor on a level surface away from obstacles, firmly apply the parking brake, block the wheels, and lower all hydraulic links/implements to the ground to relieve system pressure.

  2. Cleaning

Steam clean or thoroughly wipe down the remote control valve assembly prior to removal to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

  3. Disconnection

Disconnect the electrical harness from the remote valve solenoids. Identify and label the connectors to ensure correct re-installation.

  4. Removal

Using suitable lifting equipment to support the remote valve assembly, remove the base securing tie-bolts and carefully lift the #3 valve slice from the valve stack.

  5. Installation

Install the replacement electro-hydraulic remote valve slice, replace the O-rings between the slices, and torque the tie-bolts to OEM specifications. Reconnect the electrical harness.

  6. Calibration

The new valve must be calibrated. This can be done using the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) laptop or via the tractor's instrument cluster display (navigating to the "H1" menu and the rear EHR symbol, then using the program switches to initiate the "CAL" procedure).

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) Valve Slice / Remote Control Valve

    84230181

Commonly listed for T6 series EHR valve kits. Valve slice part numbers vary heavily based on the tractor frame size, pump flow capacity, and whether the tractor has a closed-center or open-center hydraulic system. Always verify the exact part number against the tractor's serial number.

  • Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) Valve Slice / Remote Control Valve

    719411144

Commonly listed for T6 series EHR valve kits. Valve slice part numbers vary heavily based on the tractor frame size, pump flow capacity, and whether the tractor has a closed-center or open-center hydraulic system. Always verify the exact part number against the tractor's serial number.

  • Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) Valve Slice / Remote Control Valve

    47643919

Alternative CNH hydraulic remote control valve OEM number. Valve slice part numbers vary heavily based on the tractor frame size, pump flow capacity, and whether the tractor has a closed-center or open-center hydraulic system. Always verify the exact part number against the tractor's serial number.
