NH 4193

New Holland NH 4193 – CCM (Central Control Module) or ATC (Armrest/Tractor Controller): No communications from (EHR) No. 4

Issue description

The tractor's main controller has lost CAN bus communication with the 4th Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve section located in the rear valve stack.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector plugging into EHR valve #4 at the rear remote stack for moisture, corrosion, backed-out pins, or chafed wires.

  2. Verify that the valve is receiving a solid 12V power supply and has a good ground (loss of power causes the internal processor to drop off the CAN bus).

  3. Check the CAN High and CAN Low wires at the valve connector for proper voltage and continuity back to the CCM.

  4. Swap the electrical connection (and address, if manually configurable) of valve #4 with valve #3. If the fault code changes to NH 4192, the valve itself has failed internally. If the code remains NH 4193, the issue is in the tractor's wiring harness.

  5. Check the IntelliView monitor to see if the valve has lost its programmed CAN address and can be recognized and re-addressed.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

    Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all hydraulic implements, relieve hydraulic system pressure, and disconnect the battery.

  2. Disassembly

    Disconnect the electrical harness from the EHR valve stack.

  3. Remove the Valve

    Unbolt the tie-rods/bolts that hold the rear remote valve stack together. Carefully separate the stack and remove the faulty EHR valve #4 slice. Be prepared to catch residual hydraulic oil.

  4. Installation

    Install the new EHR valve slice with new O-rings between the sections. Reassemble the stack and torque the tie-rods to the OEM specification.

  5. Reconnection

    Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical harness. Reconnect the battery.

  6. Address Programming

    Turn the key on and use the IntelliView monitor (or CNH Electronic Service Tool) to navigate to the EHR settings and assign 'Valve No. 4' to the new module.

  7. Calibration

    Initiate the calibration procedure via the monitor, which will stroke the valve back and forth to learn the neutral, maximum extend, and maximum retract positions.
