New Holland NH 4195 – DU Module: Rear EHR No.2 Motor Mode Switch Faulty (DU Module Only)

This fault code indicates a malfunction in the switch that controls the "motor mode" (continuous hydraulic flow/detent program) for the #2 Rear Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve. The system has detected an invalid signal, open circuit, or short circuit originating from this specific switch.

   On-Board Diagnostic Test (H-Menu): Enter the tractor's diagnostic menu (H9 menu) and navigate to channel d96 to see if the module recognizes the switch's physical movement.

   Wiring & Connector Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness running from the armrest control pod to the DU module for pinched wires, chafing, or loose connector pins.

   Continuity Test: Use a multimeter to test the switch itself for proper continuity when toggled.

   Swap Test: Temporarily swap the connections between the EHR No.1 and EHR No.2 switches; if the fault moves to NH 4194, the switch is definitively the culprit.

   Disconnect battery

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access EHR control pod

   Remove the retaining screws on the armrest console or side control panel to access the underside of the EHR control pod.

   Locate switch

   Locate the specific switch for the #2 Rear Remote.

   Disconnect harness

   Carefully disconnect the electrical harness connector from the faulty switch.

   Remove faulty switch

   Unclip or unscrew the faulty switch from the mounting bezel. (Note: On some newer armrests, the switches are soldered into a single printed circuit board pod. If this is the case, the entire EHR control pod or armrest module must be replaced or sent to an agricultural electronics specialist for potentiometer/switch soldering).

   Install new switch

   Snap the new switch into the bezel and reconnect the wiring harness.

   Reassemble console

   Reassemble the armrest console.

   Clear fault codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and clear the inactive fault codes from the instrument cluster.

   Test operation

   Test the #2 remote valve to ensure motor mode engages properly.
