Issue description
The internal driver circuit within the control module that operates the Rear PTO brake solenoid has exceeded its safe operating temperature limit, typically caused by a short to +12V or internal module failure. Alternatively, on newer models, the Auto PTO switch has been registered as engaged for more than 10 seconds immediately after tractor power-up.

Check the cause
Verify the Code Definition: Check the tractor's specific service manual to confirm whether 5004 refers to the PTO Brake Driver or the Auto PTO Switch for your exact model.
For Brake Driver Over Temperature: Inspect the wiring harness leading to the Rear PTO brake solenoid for chafing, melting, or exposed wires causing a short to +12V.
For Brake Driver Over Temperature: Test the Rear PTO brake solenoid with a multimeter for an internal short circuit.
For Brake Driver Over Temperature: Check the Electronic Management Unit (EMU) connectors for corrosion or bent pins.
For Auto PTO Switch Stuck On: Verify if the Auto PTO switch is physically stuck or sticking due to dirt/moisture.
For Auto PTO Switch Stuck On: Perform a system reset: Shutdown the engine, restart, raise the hitch, and erase the fault code. Press and release the Auto PTO switch for one second after the PTO is switched on and wheel speed is above 0.5 km/h (0.3 mph). If the code returns, the switch or circuit is faulty.
Repair steps
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery
