NH 7014

New Holland NH 7014 – Armrest Controller (ARM) or Central Control Unit (CCU) / Transmission Control Unit (TCU): Difflock switch error

Issue description

This fault code indicates an electrical failure or implausible signal coming from the differential lock switch located in the cab. The system's electronic control module has detected that the switch is either shorted, open, or sending a signal that does not match the expected operating parameters.

Applies to these machines

  • TS90
  • TS100
  • TS110
  • TS115
  • T6
  • T7
  • T8
  • T7000 series
  • TG210
  • TG230
  • TG255
  • TG285
  • 40 Series
  • 8160
  • 8260
  • 8360
  • 8560

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the differential lock switch on the armrest/side console for physical damage, sticking, or liquid intrusion.

  2. Access the back of the switch and inspect the wiring harness connector for loose pins, corrosion, or detached wires.

  3. Use a multimeter to test the switch. Verify that the switch opens and closes the circuit properly when toggled.

  4. Check the wiring between the switch and the Armrest Controller for continuity, shorts to ground, or shorts to a 12V power source.

  5. Ensure there are no accompanying CAN-BUS communication error codes (such as 6004), which would indicate a communication failure between the Armrest Controller and the TCU.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.

  2. Access the Switch

Carefully pry up or unscrew the trim panel on the armrest or side console where the differential lock switch is mounted.

  3. Disconnect the Harness

Unplug the factory wiring harness connector from the back of the faulty switch.

  4. Remove the Switch

Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it up and out of the mounting bezel.

  5. Install the New Part

Snap the new OEM differential lock switch into the panel until the retaining tabs click into place.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the wiring harness connector into the new switch.

  7. Reassemble

    Reinstall the armrest/console trim panel.

  8. Test Operation

Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and test the differential lock. Verify that the dashboard symbol illuminates correctly and that the NH 7014 fault code has cleared.
