New Holland NH 8037 – Armrest Module (ARU) or Cab Controller / Vehicle ECU: Front PTO cab N/O switch stuck closed
Issue description
The Normally Open (N/O) contact of the front Power Take-Off (PTO) switch located inside the tractor cab is stuck in the closed position. The electronic control module is continuously receiving a signal that the switch is being pressed or engaged, which prevents normal operation and acts as a safety lockout.

Check the cause
Inspect the front PTO switch in the cab for physical damage, sticking, or dirt/debris preventing the button from springing back to its neutral (open) position.
Disconnect the switch and use a digital multimeter to test the continuity of the N/O contacts. It should read open (infinite resistance) when not pressed, and closed (near zero ohms) when pressed. If it reads closed without being pressed, the switch has failed internally.
Inspect the wiring harness between the switch and the Armrest/Cab controller for a short to ground or a short to voltage (chafed wires) that might be tricking the ECU into thinking the switch is closed.
Check for moisture or corrosion in the switch connector, which can bridge the pins and cause a false closed circuit.
Repair steps
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.
Remove the trim panel or armrest console cover to access the rear of the front PTO switch.
Disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the switch.
Unclip or unscrew the faulty switch from the console housing.
Install the new OEM front PTO switch into the console, ensuring it clicks securely into place.
Reconnect the electrical connector to the new switch.
Reassemble the console/trim panel.
Reconnect the battery.
Turn the ignition on, clear the fault codes from the ECU using a diagnostic tool, and test the front PTO engagement and disengagement to ensure proper operation.
