Check the cause
Inspect the Auto PTO rocker switch on the armrest/dashboard to see if it is physically jammed, sticky from debris, or failing to spring back to its neutral position.
Depress and cycle the Auto PTO switch several times to see if it frees up stuck internal contacts.
Inspect the wiring harness running from the Auto PTO switch to the Armrest Controller (CCH) for pinched wires, chafing, or a short to +12V power.
Use a diagnostic tool or onboard display to monitor the live state of the Auto PTO switch input. If live data shows 'ON' while the switch is disconnected, the harness is shorted to power. If it changes to 'OFF', the switch has failed internally.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery ground to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Switch
Carefully pry up the bezel or remove the armrest/dashboard trim panel housing the Auto PTO switch to access the rear connections.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical connector from the back of the Auto PTO switch.
Replace
Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the rocker switch and push it out of the panel. Snap the new OEM Auto PTO switch into the panel.
Reassemble
Reconnect the wiring harness and reinstall the trim panel.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and use the instrument cluster or a diagnostic tool to clear the R-PTO 5004 fault code. Test the Auto PTO function to ensure it engages and disengages properly.
