R-PTO 5007

New Holland R-PTO 5007 – CCH (Cab Controller Hub / Cab Controller Module) or ATC (Armrest Tractor Controller): PTO remote fender switch stuck on (CCH Only)

Issue description

The controller is receiving a continuous, uninterrupted 'ON' signal from the external PTO switch located on the rear fender, causing the system to lock out the PTO to prevent unintended engagement.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T5
  • New Holland T7
  • New Holland T8

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the rear PTO fender switch for physical damage, packed dirt, or debris that might be physically wedging the button in the depressed/engaged position.

  2. Disconnect the wiring harness from the fender switch and use a multimeter to test for continuity. If the circuit reads as closed without the button being pressed, the switch has failed internally.

  3. Inspect the wiring harness running from the fender switch to the Cab Controller for rubbed or pinched wires that could be causing a short to 12V.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical shorts during the repair.

  2. Access the Switch

Locate the faulty PTO remote switch on the rear fender (usually housed in a plastic bezel alongside the 3-point hitch external controls).

  3. Disconnect

Reach behind the fender panel (or remove the retaining bezel) and unplug the electrical harness connector from the back of the switch.

  4. Remove

Depress the retaining tabs or remove the mounting screws holding the switch in place, and push the switch out of its mounting hole.

  5. Replace

Snap the new OEM fender switch into the housing.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the electrical harness back into the switch, ensuring the weather-pack seal clicks securely into place.

  7. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on and use the tractor's diagnostic display monitor (or a dealer scan tool) to clear the inactive 5007 fault code.

  8. Test

Verify that the PTO engages and disengages properly from both the in-cab controls and the new fender switch.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Rear PTO Fender Switch / External PTO Switch

The exact part number varies heavily depending on the specific model and whether it is the left-hand or right-hand switch. Cross-reference the tractor's PIN/Serial Number in the CNH parts catalog.
