New Holland R-PTO 5022 – Rear PTO Controller or Armrest Controller (TMF/ARM): PTO switch is in the on position when the engine is off
Issue description
This code is triggered when the system detects that the Power Take-Off (PTO) switch is engaged (or sending an "ON" signal) while the engine is shut down.
Applies to these machines
2 machines- New Holland T8 Series (T8030, T8040, T8.275, T8.300, T8.330, T8.360, T8.390)
- New Holland T9 Series
Check the cause
Verify the physical position of the PTO switch in the cab to ensure it was not simply left engaged after shutting down the tractor (operator error)
Press and manipulate the PTO push button/switch to ensure it is not physically stuck, binding, or jammed in the depressed position
Disconnect the switch and test it with a multimeter for electrical continuity to check if the internal contacts are fused or shorted closed
Inspect the wiring harness between the cab PTO switch and the Armrest/PTO controller for a short to power (B+)
Repair steps
Turn the PTO switch to the "OFF" position.
Turn the ignition key to the OFF position, wait a few moments, and turn the tractor back on to see if the code clears.
If the code is active and the switch is mechanically stuck or internally shorted, power down the machine and remove the armrest/console trim to access the rear of the PTO switch.
Disconnect the electrical connector from the PTO switch.
Depress the retaining tabs on the switch body to pop it out of the console mounting hole.
Install the new OEM PTO switch by snapping it into the console.
Reconnect the electrical harness.
Power on the tractor and verify that the 5022 fault code has cleared and that the PTO engages and disengages properly.
