New Holland SFA 10015 – ATC (Alta Implement / Tractor Control): Front suspension Lock Valve Solenoid is open circuit or is shorted to ground

Issue description

The controller has detected an electrical fault in the circuit controlling the lock valve for the front axle suspension. An 'open circuit' means there is a break in the wiring or a disconnected plug, while a 'short to ground' means the power wire is chafing and touching the machine's metal chassis, or the solenoid coil has failed internally.

Check the cause

  1. Check the 12VM voltage supply fuses to the front suspension system, as a short to ground often results in a blown fuse.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness routing down to the front suspension manifold for pinched wires, chafed insulation, or snagged debris.

  3. Disconnect the plug at the Front Suspension Lock Valve Solenoid and check for corrosion, bent pins, or moisture ingress.

  4. Test the harness for continuity back to the ATC module to rule out a broken wire (open circuit).

  5. Test the power wire for continuity to the chassis ground to rule out a short to ground.

  6. Measure the resistance (Ohms) across the pins of the solenoid coil itself. An infinite (open) or near zero (shorted) reading indicates a failed solenoid.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

    Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Locate the Valve

    Locate the front suspension control manifold (typically mounted near the front axle) and identify the Lock Valve Solenoid.

  3. Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

    If the diagnostic tests revealed a broken or chafed wire in the harness, splice and heat-shrink the damaged section, or replace the damaged connector pigtail. Replace any blown fuses.

  4. Replace the Solenoid (If Applicable)

    If the wiring is intact but the solenoid coil failed the resistance test: Unplug the electrical connector from the solenoid. Remove the retaining nut or clip holding the solenoid coil to the valve cartridge. Slide the old coil off the stem. Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem and secure it with the retaining nut/clip.

  5. Reassemble and Clear Codes

    Reconnect the electrical harness. Reconnect the battery. Use a diagnostic tool or Can-Bus DTC eraser to clear the 10015 code from the ATC module.

  6. Test Operation

    Start the tractor and cycle the front suspension lock/unlock switch to verify the fault does not return and the suspension operates normally.
