SFA 10016

New Holland SFA 10016 – Front Suspension Control Module (FSUS, XCM, or GCM1): Front Suspension Enable Switch Error

Issue description

The control system has detected a malfunction, invalid signal, or electrical fault (such as an open circuit or short) originating from the rocker switch used by the operator to enable or disable the front axle suspension system.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T8.xxx Series

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the front suspension enable switch in the cab to check if the rocker switch is physically broken, sticking, or failing to click into position

  2. Remove the switch panel and inspect the wiring harness connected to the back of the switch for loose pins, disconnected wires, or corrosion

  3. Use a multimeter to test the switch for continuity to verify it properly opens and closes the circuit

  4. If the switch tests fine, check the wiring harness for continuity between the switch connector and the Front Suspension Control Module to rule out a broken wire or short to ground

  5. Perform a system reset by disconnecting the tractor's battery for a short period to see if the code clears, ruling out a transient software glitch

  6. Verify that the primary suspension module fuses (such as 12VM, 12VF1, and 12VF3 supply circuits) are intact, as low voltage can cause erratic switch logic

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Switch

Carefully pry up the bezel or control panel on the armrest/side console where the front suspension enable switch is mounted.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical pigtail connector from the back of the faulty switch.

  4. Remove the Switch

Depress the retention tabs on the sides of the rocker switch body and push it out through the front of the panel.

  5. Install the New Part

Snap the new OEM rocker switch into the panel until the tabs lock it in place.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the electrical connector into the new switch, ensuring the locking tab clicks. Reinstall the control panel.

  7. Clear Codes & Test

Reconnect the battery. Turn the key to the ON position and use the tractor's diagnostic display (H-Menu) or a dealer service tool to clear the inactive 10016 fault code. Start the tractor and toggle the suspension switch to verify the system engages without triggering the error.
