New Holland TMF 11 – TMF Controller: Communications Lost with Data Bus and ALL other controllers
Issue description
The TMF controller has been completely disconnected from the tractor's CAN bus network and is no longer communicating with the rest of the machine's modules.
Applies to these machines
9 machines- T8010
- T8020
- T8030
- T8040
- T8050
- TG215
- TG245
- TG275
- TG305
Check the cause
Check for accompanying codes (e.g., ARM 12013) to see if multiple modules are offline, which indicates a main CAN bus wiring fault rather than the TMF controller itself.
Verify the power and ground circuits to the TMF controller by checking the specific fuses and relays in the electrical power distribution box.
Inspect the 6-pin electrical connector at the TMF controller for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or moisture ingress.
Test the CAN High and CAN Low lines at the TMF connector for continuity and proper resistance using a multimeter (a healthy CAN bus typically reads 60 ohms across the network).
Repair steps
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
Locate the Tractor Multi-Function (TMF) Controller.
Disconnect the 6-pin electrical connector from the module.
If the connector is damaged or heavily corroded, splice in a new 6-pin connector pigtail.
See parts list for replacement connector.
If the wiring, power, ground, and CAN bus resistance all test within specification, the TMF controller has suffered an internal hardware failure and must be replaced.
Unbolt the old TMF controller and install the replacement unit.
Typically secured with M3.5 x 13 self-tapping screws.
Reconnect the battery and turn the key to the ON position.
Calibrate the remote system controller.
The remote system controller must be calibrated anytime the controller is changed. Use the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the tractor's onboard display to perform the remote hydraulic, hitch, and PTO calibration procedures.
