TMF 114

New Holland TMF 114 – TMF: Aux 3rd Remote Valve Flow Potentiometer Failed

Issue description

The Auxiliary 3rd remote valve FLOW potentiometer has failed or its data is set to an error state. The TMF (Armrest) controller is receiving an invalid, out-of-range, or missing electrical signal from the dial/potentiometer used by the operator to adjust the hydraulic flow rate for the 3rd rear remote valve.

Applies to these machines

  • T6 Series
  • T7 Series
  • T8 Series
  • T9 Series
  • MXM Series
  • TM Series

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading from the 3rd remote flow potentiometer inside the armrest console to the Armrest Controller circuit board. Look for pinched wires, loose connections, or corrosion.

  2. Use a multimeter to test the resistance of the potentiometer while turning the dial. Look for dead spots, an open circuit, or a short to ground/12V.

  3. Before replacing parts, attempt to recalibrate the armrest controls. Navigate to the AUX FLOW menu via the instrument cluster (ICU2) or cab display to calibrate the flow potentiometers for high and low flow limits.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working inside the armrest.

  2. Access the Armrest Console

Carefully remove the covers/trim from the operator's armrest console to expose the electro-hydraulic remote levers and flow control dials.

  3. Remove the Faulty Component

Disconnect the electrical connector for the 3rd remote valve flow potentiometer. Unbolt or unclip the potentiometer from its mounting bracket. Note: On some newer armrest assemblies, the potentiometers are soldered directly to a sub-board. If this is the case, the specific board assembly must be removed.

  4. Install the New Part

Fit the replacement potentiometer or control board into the armrest and reconnect the wiring harness.

  5. Reassemble

Secure the armrest covers and restore battery power.

  6. Perform Calibration

Turn the key on and enter the Armrest Controller Calibration mode. Run the AUX FLOW calibration to teach the controller the minimum and maximum voltage values of the new potentiometer.

  7. Clear Codes and Test

Clear the TMF 114 fault code from the system memory and test the 3rd remote valve flow adjustment to ensure proper operation.

Parts you might need
