New Holland TMF 116 – Armrest Controller: Aux 5th remote valve FLOW potentiometer is failed in the Armrest Controller
Issue description
The system has detected an out-of-range, open, or shorted electrical signal from the rotary dial (potentiometer) used by the operator to adjust the hydraulic flow rate for the 5th auxiliary remote valve.

Check the cause
Inspect the 5th remote flow control dial on the armrest to see if the knob is physically broken, spins freely without resistance, or is stuck.
Carefully open the armrest console and inspect the wiring harness leading to the 5th remote potentiometer for pinched wires, chafing, or disconnected pins.
Disconnect the potentiometer and measure the resistance across the signal and ground pins while turning the dial; the resistance should change smoothly without dropping out (typically 1000 Ohm).
Check the harness connector coming from the Armrest Controller board for a steady 5V reference signal and a good ground. If the 5V reference is missing, the Armrest Controller board itself may be faulty.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical damage to the sensitive armrest modules.
Access the Console
Remove the retaining screws on the underside or perimeter of the right-hand armrest console to lift the upper cover.
Locate the Component
Identify the flow control potentiometer specifically assigned to the 5th auxiliary remote valve.
Removal
Disconnect the electrical pigtail/connector from the potentiometer. Remove the retaining nut or mounting clip securing the potentiometer to the armrest plastic housing, and pull the dial assembly out.
Installation
Insert the replacement potentiometer into the housing and secure it with the retaining nut. Reattach the operator knob.
Reconnection
Plug the electrical connector back into the new potentiometer.
Reassembly
Carefully lower the armrest cover back into place, ensuring no wires are pinched, and reinstall the retaining screws.
Calibration
Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and clear the inactive fault codes. Depending on the specific tractor model, you may need to navigate to the tractor's display monitor (e.g., IntelliView) to perform a remote valve / armrest control calibration so the controller learns the new potentiometer's minimum and maximum voltage values.
