New Holland TMF 124 – TMF (Tractor Management Facility) / AUX: Aux 1st Lower solenoid failed open or short circuit
Issue description
The Auxiliary #1 driver is commanded ON by the controller, but no electrical current is being sensed. This indicates that the retract/lower coil circuit for the first remote valve is either completely broken (open circuit, such as a disconnected plug or burnt-out coil) or it is shorted directly to the ground.
Applies to these machines
6 machines- New Holland T6
- New Holland T7
- New Holland T8
- New Holland T9
- New Holland MXM Series
- New Holland TM Series
Check the cause
Visually inspect the #1 Auxiliary remote valve block wiring harness and connector for disconnected plugs, corrosion, or broken wires.
Perform a harness continuity and short test between the TMF/AUX controller and the solenoid connector.
Measure the resistance across the pins of the 1st Lower solenoid coil to check for an open circuit (OL).
Command the #1 remote to the 'Lower' position with the tractor running and verify if 12 volts are reaching the connector.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, relieve all hydraulic pressure from the remote valves, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Locate the Valve
Identify the #1 remote valve stack at the rear of the machine. Identify the specific solenoid responsible for the 'Lower/Retract' function.
Remove the Solenoid
Disconnect the electrical connector from the failed solenoid. Remove the retaining nut or cap screw at the end of the solenoid stem.
Slide off the Coil
Carefully slide the electromagnetic coil off the hydraulic valve cartridge. (Note: You usually do not need to open the hydraulic system or remove the cartridge valve itself just to replace the coil).
Install the New Part
Slide the new solenoid coil onto the cartridge stem. Install and tighten the retaining nut to the OEM torque specification.
Reconnect and Clear
Plug the electrical connector back in. Reconnect the battery, turn on the tractor, and use a diagnostic tool or the tractor's armrest display to clear the TMF 124 inactive fault code.
Test
Actuate the #1 remote valve to ensure proper lowering/retracting function and verify the code does not return.
