TMF 129

New Holland TMF 129 – TMF: Aux 2nd Raise Coil solenoid shorted to 12 volts

Issue description

The controller is sensing electrical current when the Auxiliary #2 driver is commanded OFF, which points to the extend/raise coil circuit being shorted to a 12-volt power source.

Applies to these machines

  • TG Series
  • TG210
  • TG215
  • TG230
  • TG245
  • TG255
  • TG275
  • TG285
  • TG305
  • T8000 Series
  • T8010
  • T8020
  • T8030
  • T8040
  • T8050
  • T8 Series
  • T8.275
  • T8.300
  • T8.390
  • MXM Series
  • TM Series
  • T9 Series

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness running from the TMF controller to the Auxiliary 2nd valve raise solenoid for pinched, rubbed, or melted wires that could expose the circuit to a 12-volt power source.

  2. Disconnect the electrical connector at the Aux 2nd Raise solenoid to isolate the fault. If the fault changes state (e.g., to an open circuit code like TMF 130), the short is likely internal to the solenoid coil. If the short to 12V remains, the issue is in the wiring harness.

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery

Ensure safety while working on the electrical system.

  2. Locate the Auxiliary 2nd valve block

Locate the Auxiliary 2nd valve block at the rear of the tractor.

  3. Disconnect the wiring harness

Disconnect the wiring harness from the Aux 2nd Raise solenoid coil.

  4. Repair or replace the wiring harness

If the diagnostic checks proved the wiring harness is shorted, locate the damaged section of the wire. Splice and solder a repair, then seal it with heat-shrink tubing, or replace the affected harness section.

  5. Remove the retaining nut

If the diagnostic checks proved the solenoid coil is internally shorted, remove the retaining nut holding the coil to the valve cartridge.

  6. Remove the old coil

Slide the old coil off the valve stem.

  7. Install the new coil

Slide the new OEM replacement coil onto the valve stem and secure it with the retaining nut.

  8. Reconnect the wiring harness

Reconnect the wiring harness to the new solenoid coil.

  9. Test the system

Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and clear the fault codes. Test the Aux 2 remote to ensure proper operation and verify that TMF 129 does not return.
