New Holland TMF 130 – TMF: Aux 2nd Raise Solenoid Open/Short

The controller has commanded the #2 Auxiliary (Remote) Valve's Raise (or Extend) driver to turn ON, but no electrical current is being sensed in the circuit. This condition indicates that the circuit is either completely open (e.g., a broken wire, disconnected plug, or burnt-out internal solenoid coil) or it is shorted directly to ground.

   Locate the 2nd auxiliary remote valve on the rear hydraulic valve stack and identify the specific solenoid responsible for the Raise/Extend function.

   Disconnect the electrical connector at the solenoid and inspect the harness and connector for corrosion, moisture, pushed-out pins, or chafed wires shorting against the tractor chassis.

   Using a digital multimeter, measure the resistance across the pins of the solenoid coil. Infinite resistance (OL) indicates an internally open coil; continuity to the outer casing indicates a shorted coil.

   If the coil tests within normal resistance specifications, check the wiring harness for continuity between the TMF controller output pin and the solenoid connector, and test for a short to ground.

   Prepare tractor

   Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery ground cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Clean valve area

   Thoroughly clean the exterior of the 2nd remote valve section to prevent dirt from contaminating the hydraulic system.

   Disconnect wiring

   Unplug the wiring harness connector from the faulty Raise solenoid.

   Remove retaining nut

   Remove the retaining nut or fastener at the end of the solenoid stem.

   Remove faulty coil

   Carefully slide the faulty electromagnetic coil off the valve cartridge tube. Note: If you are only replacing the coil, you do not need to drain the hydraulic fluid or remove the inner valve cartridge.

   Install new coil

   Slide the new solenoid coil onto the cartridge stem and secure it with the retaining nut. Do not overtighten, as this can distort the cartridge.

   Reconnect wiring

   Plug the wiring harness back into the new solenoid.

   Test and clear code

   Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and actuate the 2nd remote valve using the cab controls to verify proper operation. Clear the TMF 130 fault code using the tractor's instrument cluster display or an electronic service tool.
