New Holland TMF 133 – TMF (Tractor Multi-Function): Aux 3rd Raise Coil solenoid shorted to 12 volts.
Issue description
Current is being sensed by the controller when the Auxiliary #3 driver is commanded OFF. This indicates that the extend/raise coil circuit for the 3rd remote valve is shorted to a 12-volt power source.
Applies to these machines
3 machines- New Holland TG Series (e.g., TG215)
- New Holland T8000 Series (e.g., T8020, T8030, T8040)
- New Holland MXM / TM Series
Check the cause
Disconnect the electrical connector at the Aux 3rd raise coil solenoid, turn the key ON (engine off) with Aux 3 in neutral, and check for 12 volts on the harness side to identify a harness short to power.
Measure the resistance (ohms) across the pins of the Aux 3rd raise coil solenoid to check for an internal short (near zero ohms).
If the harness and solenoid test fine, check the TMF controller for a failed (shorted) internal high-side driver.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.
Locate the Valve Block
Locate the rear remote valve stack (electro-hydraulic remotes) at the rear of the tractor. Identify the 3rd auxiliary valve slice and locate the "Raise/Extend" solenoid coil.
Inspect Wiring
Carefully inspect the wiring harness leading to the 3rd remote valve. Look for chafing, melted insulation, or pinched wires where a 12V wire might be making contact with the solenoid signal wire. Repair any damaged wiring using heat-shrink connectors.
Replace the Solenoid
If internally shorted: Disconnect the wiring harness from the faulty solenoid. Remove the retaining nut or bolt holding the solenoid coil to the valve cartridge. Slide the old coil off the valve stem. Slide the new OEM solenoid coil onto the stem and secure it with the retaining nut (do not overtighten, as this can warp the cartridge).
Reassemble and Test
Reconnect the wiring harness, reconnect the battery, and start the tractor. Operate the 3rd auxiliary remote through its full range of motion to verify operation.
Clear Codes
Use the tractor's diagnostic display or a service tool to clear the TMF 133 fault code from the system memory.
