New Holland TMF 138 – TMF (Tractor Multi-Function) Controller: Aux 4th Raise solenoid failed open or short circuit
Issue description
The controller has commanded the #4 auxiliary remote valve driver to turn ON (to extend/raise the implement), but no electrical current is being sensed. This condition indicates that the extend/raise solenoid coil has an internal open circuit, or the wiring circuit is shorted to ground/broken.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the 4th remote valve section wiring harness at the rear of the tractor for chafing, pinched wires, or breaks.
Disconnect the electrical connector at the 4th remote valve raise solenoid and check pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or pushed-back terminals.
Measure the resistance across the pins of the raise solenoid coil using a digital multimeter (OL indicates an open circuit, 0 ohms indicates a dead short).
With the connector unplugged, have an operator command the 4th remote to 'raise' from the cab and check for proper supply voltage at the harness connector to verify the TMF controller is sending the signal.
Repair steps
Depressurize
Turn off the tractor engine and cycle the remote levers/switches in the cab to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the system.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical harness connector from the 4th remote valve raise solenoid.
Harness Repair
If the diagnostic tests revealed a wiring fault (short to ground or broken wire), repair the damaged section of the harness or splice in a new connector pigtail.
Solenoid Replacement
If the solenoid coil failed the resistance test, remove the retaining nut or fastener holding the solenoid coil to the valve cartridge stem, slide the faulty solenoid coil off the valve, and slide the new OEM solenoid coil onto the stem and secure it with the retaining fastener. (Note: On certain valve configurations, the solenoid is 'Not Serviced Separately' [NSS], meaning the entire electro-hydraulic remote valve section must be replaced).
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical harness to the solenoid.
Test
Start the tractor, clear the TMF 138 fault code via the instrument cluster or diagnostic tool, and actuate the 4th remote valve to verify proper operation and ensure the code does not return.
