New Holland TMF 139 – TMF (Tractor Multi-Function) Controller: Aux 5th Lower Coil solenoid shorted to 12 volts.

The control module detects electrical current on the circuit for the 5th auxiliary remote valve's lower/retract solenoid while the driver (command) is turned OFF. This indicates that the signal wire for the 5th auxiliary lower coil is receiving unintended battery voltage (shorted to a 12V source), or the solenoid itself has failed internally.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness from the 5th auxiliary remote valve back toward the TMF controller for pinched wires, melted insulation, or chafing against the chassis.

   Disconnect the electrical plug at the 5th auxiliary lower solenoid and inspect the pins for moisture, dirt, or corrosion that could bridge the 12V supply.

   With the key ON but the 5th remote commanded OFF, use a multimeter to probe the signal wire at the disconnected solenoid plug. If 12V is present, the short is in the wiring harness.

   If the harness tests good, use a multimeter to measure the internal resistance of the solenoid coil to determine if it has shorted internally.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

   Harness Repair (If Applicable)

   If the diagnostic tests revealed 12V on the harness side, locate the damaged section of the wiring harness. Cut out the shorted section, splice in new wire using weather-sealed heat-shrink butt connectors, and re-loom the harness.

   Solenoid Replacement (If Applicable)

   Locate the 5th auxiliary remote valve block at the rear of the tractor. Remove the retaining nut on the end of the lower/retract spool valve stem. Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the valve cartridge. Clean the valve stem of any dirt or debris. Slide the new solenoid coil onto the stem and tighten the retaining nut to OEM torque specs (do not overtighten, as this can distort the cartridge).

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical plug to the solenoid, ensuring the weather seal clicks into place.

   Clear Codes & Test

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key ON, and use the tractor's display monitor (or a diagnostic scan tool) to clear the TMF 139 fault code. Start the tractor and cycle the 5th auxiliary remote to confirm the repair.
