New Holland TMF 142 – TMF Controller: Aux 5th Raise solenoid failed open or short circuit.

The control module has commanded the driver for the 5th auxiliary remote valve's "raise" (or extend) function to turn on, but no electrical current is being sensed. This indicates a break in the circuit (an open circuit, such as a broken wire, disconnected plug, or burnt-out solenoid coil) or a short to ground.

   Visually inspect the 5th auxiliary remote valve wiring harness and electrical connector for physical damage, corrosion, or loose/pushed-back pins.

   Perform a coil resistance test on the solenoid coil using a digital multimeter (infinite O.L means open, near zero means shorted).

   Check the wiring harness between the solenoid connector and the TMF controller for continuity and shorts to ground.

   Perform a voltage test with the connector unplugged while commanding the 5th remote to 'raise' to verify the TMF controller is sending the correct reference voltage.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Valve

   Locate the 5th auxiliary remote valve block assembly at the rear of the machine. Clean the area around the valve to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Disconnect Wiring

   Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty raise/extend solenoid.

   Harness Repair (If Applicable)

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or damaged connector, splice in a new connector pigtail or repair the wire using weather-sealed heat shrink connectors.

   Solenoid Replacement (If Applicable)

   Remove the retaining nut or snap-ring holding the solenoid coil to the valve cartridge stem. Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the stem. Slide the new OEM solenoid coil onto the stem and secure it with the retaining nut/clip.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical harness to the new solenoid.

   Testing

   Reconnect the battery and start the tractor. Clear the stored TMF 142 fault code from the diagnostic menu. Operate the 5th auxiliary remote to verify the function has been restored and that the code does not return.
