TMF 147

New Holland TMF 147 – TMF (Tractor Multifunction Controller): Implement feedback #1 out of range High

Issue description

The feedback sensor for the #1 implement/remote hydraulic valve is sending a voltage signal back to the controller that exceeds the maximum expected threshold. This condition typically points to a short-to-power in the sensor circuit, an open ground wire, or an internal failure of the feedback sensor/potentiometer itself.

Applies to these machines

  • TG210
  • TG230
  • TG255
  • TG275
  • TG285
  • T8010
  • T8020
  • T8030
  • T8040
  • T8050

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the wiring harness between the implement feedback sensor and the controller (specifically checking connections between C340 and C054). Inspect connector ends for damage, moisture, corrosion, or bent/dislocated pins.

  2. Ensure the remote hydraulic controller has proper power and ground connections.

  3. Perform a voltage test: Reconnect all connections, turn the 1st remote valve ON, and probe connector C054 with a multimeter. There should be approximately 12 volts at Pin 6 and low voltage at Pin 7.

  4. If the voltages are incorrect despite the wiring harness being intact, suspect a failed remote hydraulic controller.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Inspect and Clean

Locate the #1 remote valve on the rear hydraulic stack. Disconnect the sensor harness (Connector C054) and inspect the pins. Clean with electrical contact cleaner.

  3. Test the Harness

Use a multimeter to check for continuity, shorts to power, or open grounds on the harness running back to the TMF controller. Repair any chafed or broken wires.

  4. Replace Faulty Component

If the wiring tests good but the voltage test (from the diagnostic steps above) fails, replace the remote hydraulic controller / feedback sensor assembly.

  5. Reassemble and Clear Codes

Reconnect all harnesses and restore battery power. Use the tractor's display or a diagnostic service tool to clear the TMF 147 / AUX 51402 fault code.

  6. Calibrate

Perform a hydraulic remote valve calibration to ensure the TMF controller learns the sweep of the new sensor.
