TMF 149

New Holland TMF 149 – TMF: Implement feedback #2 out of range High

Issue description

The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the implement feedback sensor #2 (typically a potentiometer monitoring hitch or remote valve position) that exceeds the maximum acceptable threshold (usually >4.5V on a 5V reference circuit). This condition is most commonly caused by an open ground circuit, a short to a power source on the signal wire, or an internally failed sensor.

Applies to these machines

  • TG Series (TG210, TG230, TG255, TG285)
  • T8 Series
  • T9 Series

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the implement feedback sensor #2 for chafing, corrosion, or backed-out pins.

  2. Use a digital multimeter to verify that the sensor is receiving the correct 5V reference supply.

  3. Check the sensor's ground circuit for high resistance or an open condition. (An open ground is the most common reason a sensor signal gets pulled "High" out of range).

  4. Test the signal wire for a short to voltage (either 5V or 12V).

  5. If the wiring harness tests good, test the sensor itself by measuring its resistance sweep to see if the potentiometer has failed internally.

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the tractor key and disconnect battery power if harness repairs are required.

  2. Disconnect the harness from the implement feedback sensor #2.

  3. Repair any broken wires, open grounds, or shorted wires found during the diagnostic phase.

  4. If the harness is intact and the sensor is deemed faulty, unbolt and remove the implement feedback sensor.

  5. Install the replacement sensor and securely reconnect the wiring harness.

  6. Restore battery power, turn the key on, and clear the TMF 149 fault code using the cab monitor or diagnostic tool.

  7. Perform the implement/hitch position calibration procedure as outlined in the operator's manual to teach the controller the new sensor's voltage range.

Parts you might need
