New Holland TMF 158 – TMF: PTO remote fender switch open circuit

The control module has detected a break in the electrical circuit (an open circuit) for the rear Power Take-Off (PTO) switch located on the exterior rear fender. When this fault is active, the PTO is typically disabled for safety reasons.

   Inspect the fender-mounted rear PTO switch connectors for loose connections, backed-out pins, dirt, or corrosion.

   Disconnect the fender switch and use a digital multimeter to check for continuity across the component side. Press and hold the switch to verify it properly closes the circuit.

   Check the wiring harness for continuity between the fender switch connector and the TMF central controller. Look for broken, pinched, or chafed wires causing the open circuit.

   If the switch and harness are both intact, check the TMF controller itself for internal faults.

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate the faulty PTO switch on the rear fender.

   Unplug the electrical connector from the back of the switch.

   Remove the retaining clips or mounting nut holding the switch in the fender housing and pull the old switch out.

   Insert the replacement PTO switch into the fender and secure it.

   Reconnect the wiring harness connector, ensuring it clicks securely into place.

   Reconnect the battery and turn the key on.

   Clear the error code from the TMF module.

   Test the system for normal operation by engaging and disengaging the PTO using the newly installed fender switch.
