New Holland TMF 23 – TMF (Tractor Multi-Function) Controller or CCH (Hitch Controller): Two draft pin sensors failed when configured for two draft pins.
Issue description
The tractor's electronic draft control system is configured to read load data from two electronic draft sensing pins (left and right) on the 3-point hitch. The controller has detected a simultaneous failure—such as an open circuit, short circuit, or out-of-range voltage—from both of these sensors.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- T8 Series (T8040, T8050, T8.xxx)
- TG Series
- TM Series
- Magnum Series (215, 235, 245, 275, 305, 335, 340)
Check the cause
Verify the tractor's software configuration is set for a two-pin draft setup (a single-pin setup would trigger TMF 22 if failed).
Check the 5V reference circuit for the draft pins. Test the sensor supply voltage; incorrect voltage causes simultaneous failure (check for codes TMF 14 or TMF 15).
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to both the left and right lower link arms for pinched wires, moisture, or corroded pins.
Test the electronic draft pins using a multimeter for an internal short or open circuit.
Check for individual pin codes such as TMF 30 (Right Draft Pin) or TMF 31 (Left Draft Pin) to determine if one pin failed before the other.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to protect the TMF controller.
Disconnect Harness
Unplug the 3-pin electrical connectors from both the left and right draft pin sensors on the lower hitch links.
Remove Hardware
Remove the retaining bolts, spacers, and the protective covers securing the draft pins to the hitch assembly.
Extract and Replace
Remove the faulty draft pin sensors and install the new replacement pins.
Reassemble
Reinstall the spacers, covers, and retaining bolts. Reconnect the electrical harness.
Recalibrate
Reconnect the battery and clear the fault codes. You must perform a Hydraulic Lift / Hitch Autocalibration routine using the tractor's display or a diagnostic tool, as the TMF controller requires new calibration values whenever draft control components are replaced.
