New Holland TMF 31 – TMF (Tractor Multi-Function) Controller: Left Draft Pin voltage is outside the normal operating range
Issue description
The controller is detecting that the no-load offset voltage from the left draft sensing pin (load pin) on the 3-point hitch is outside of the expected specification, indicating a failed sensor, a wiring harness issue, or a system that has lost its calibration.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and the connector at the left draft pin for physical damage, corrosion, or loose connections
Check the sensor connector for proper reference voltage (typically an 8V or 5V reference depending on the exact model) and a good ground
Enter the tractor's diagnostic mode (H-routines) to view the live voltage reading of the left draft pin. Check if the voltage is stuck low (open circuit or short to ground) or stuck high (short to voltage)
Attempt a hitch calibration. If the pin has drifted out of spec but hasn't failed completely, a recalibration might temporarily clear the code
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
Remove the Sensor
Disconnect the wiring harness from the left draft pin.
Extract the Pin
Remove the retaining hardware (such as split pins or retaining bolts) that secures the draft pin to the lower left hitch link. Slide the faulty draft pin out of the linkage.
Install the New Part
Lubricate and slide the new draft sensor pin into the linkage. Secure it with the retaining hardware and reconnect the wiring harness.
Recalibrate the Hitch
You must perform the Hitch Controller Calibration procedure via the tractor's display or diagnostic menu. The controller needs to learn the new 'no-load' offset voltage of the replacement pin; otherwise, the fault code will return.
