New Holland TMF 33 – Armrest Controller: Hitch Slip Set Switch failed in the Armrest controller

The controller is receiving an implausible signal, an open circuit, or a short circuit from the switch used by the operator to set the allowable wheel slip percentage for the electronic draft control (EDC) system.

   Inspect the Hitch Slip Set Switch on the armrest console for physical damage, sticking, or debris preventing it from returning to its neutral position.

   Remove the armrest trim and inspect the wiring harness connecting the switch to the Armrest Controller (ARU). Look for loose pins, corrosion, or chafed wires that could cause an open or short circuit.

   Disconnect the switch and use a multimeter to test for continuity. Verify that the switch opens and closes the circuit correctly when toggled.

   Connect the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the diagnostic port and monitor live data for the Armrest Controller. If the EST shows no change but the switch passes a continuity test, the fault is likely in the wiring harness or the ARU itself.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Console

   Carefully remove the retaining screws and unclip the top cover/trim of the multi-function armrest console to expose the internal electronics.

   Locate the Switch

   Identify the Hitch Slip Set Switch assembly.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector from the back of the switch.

   Remove the Switch

   Depress the retaining tabs or remove the mounting screws holding the switch in the armrest bezel, and pull the faulty switch out.

   Install the New Part

   Push the new switch into the bezel until it clicks into place (or secure it with screws).

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the switch, ensuring the locking tab engages.

   Reassemble

   Reinstall the armrest console cover and secure all screws.

   Test and Clear

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition ON, use the tractor's onboard display or an EST diagnostic tool to clear the TMF 33 inactive code, and test the slip set function to ensure the code does not return.
