New Holland TMF 48 – TMF (Tractor Multifunction Controller): Raise Valve calibration value is too low. (valve problem)

The PWM threshold to start hitch raising is below the minimum limit (typically 4%). If the controller detects hitch movement (via the hitch position potentiometer) before the PWM signal reaches this minimum limit, the TMF 48 fault is triggered.

   Check battery voltage to verify it is not excessively high, as voltage spikes can cause the valve to actuate prematurely

   Measure the resistance of the hitch raise solenoid coil to check for a shorted or failing coil

   Inspect the hitch raise valve for mechanical failure, sticking, or debris that might cause it to bypass or actuate early

   Voltage Test

   Use a multimeter to confirm the tractor's battery and charging system voltage is within normal operating specifications (approx. 12V-14V).

   Coil Test

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the hitch raise valve solenoid. Measure the resistance across the solenoid pins. If the resistance is below OEM spec, the solenoid is faulty and must be replaced.

   Valve Inspection

   If the electrical tests pass, remove the hitch raise valve to inspect for internal mechanical failure, worn O-rings, or contamination. Clean or replace the valve assembly as necessary.

   Re-Calibration

   After repairing or replacing the faulty solenoid/valve, you must rerun the hitch calibration procedure. The tractor engine must be running and the engine speed signal must be active to successfully complete the calibration.
