New Holland TMF 50 – TMF (Tractor Management Frame): Hitch position at top of travel is not within specification during calibration.
Issue description
During the automated hitch calibration process, the signal from the hitch position sensor (potentiometer) is not falling within the expected electrical range when the hitch is at its maximum raised position (top of travel).

Check the cause
Check the rear hitch assembly and rockshaft for physical obstructions, packed dirt, or mechanical binding that might prevent the hitch from reaching its absolute top of travel.
Inspect the small mechanical linkage connecting the rockshaft to the hitch position sensor to ensure it is not bent, disconnected, or loose.
Inspect the wiring harness and 3-pin connector at the hitch position sensor for corrosion, moisture, or damaged wires that could skew the voltage signal.
Use a diagnostic tool to monitor the hitch potentiometer signal. Verify if the voltage changes smoothly as the hitch is manually raised and lowered, or if it drops out/flatlines at the top of the stroke.
Repair steps
Clear Obstructions
Remove any implements or debris from the rear 3-point hitch to ensure full, unrestricted movement.
Replace the Sensor (if faulty)
If the sensor linkage is intact but the signal is out of range or dead at the top of the stroke, remove the mounting hardware and disconnect the wiring harness to remove the faulty hitch position sensor. Install the new sensor and reattach the mechanical linkage.
Prepare for Calibration
Ensure the tractor is parked on a level surface and is completely stationary (tractor movement will abort the calibration and throw a TMF 44 code).
Run the Engine
Start the engine. The engine must be running, and for certain valve calibration steps, the engine speed must be set above 1600 RPM (failure to have the engine running will trigger a TMF 45 code).
Perform Hitch Calibration
Initiate the Hitch Calibration procedure via the tractor's armrest display or instrument cluster. Follow the on-screen prompts to cycle the hitch fully up and down so the TMF controller can learn the new minimum and maximum sensor values.
Verify
Ensure the calibration completes successfully without timing out (which would trigger a TMF 53 code) and verify that the TMF 50 code has changed to an inactive state or cleared.
