New Holland TRANS 103 – Transmission Controller (TRANS / TCU): Odd clutch solenoid or its wiring failed open or shorted to ground.
Issue description
The transmission controller monitors the current draw from the odd clutch solenoid circuit. If the current draw falls below a specific limit, the controller determines that the circuit is either open (broken wire or failed internal solenoid coil) or shorted to ground.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness running from the transmission controller to the solenoids under the cab for obvious rubbing, melting, or damage.
Perform a harness resistance test (open circuit) by disconnecting connectors C350 and C353 from the transmission controller. Measure resistance between cavity 9 of C350 and cavity 8 of C353 (should be approximately 10 ohms).
Perform a harness short-to-ground test by measuring resistance between cavity 9 of C350 and chassis ground, and then cavity 8 of C353 and chassis ground. Less than a few ohms indicates a short to ground.
Perform a solenoid coil test by safely lifting the cab, disconnecting the odd clutch solenoid connector (C029), and measuring resistance directly between pin 1 and pin 2 on the solenoid (should be around 10 ohms).

Identify the Odd Clutch Solenoid (it mates with wiring connector No. 29).

Disconnect the electrical connector (C029) from the solenoid.

Remove the retaining hardware securing the solenoid to the valve block and pull the faulty solenoid out.

Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean transmission fluid to prevent tearing during installation.
