New Holland TRANS 110 – Transmission Control Module (TCU) / Transmission Controller: Mid range clutch solenoid or its wiring failed open or shorted to ground.
Issue description
The system has detected an electrical fault in the circuit responsible for actuating the mid-range transmission clutch. Specifically, the controller is seeing either a complete break in the circuit (failed open) or the voltage is bleeding off directly to the chassis/ground (shorted to ground).

Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness leading from the Transmission Controller to the transmission control valve block. Look for chafed wires, melted insulation, or pinch points that could cause a short to ground.
Disconnect the electrical connector at the mid-range clutch solenoid. Inspect for corrosion, moisture ingress, bent pins, or loose terminals.
Using a multimeter, test the wiring harness between the TCU and the solenoid connector for continuity (to rule out an open circuit) and test for continuity to ground (to rule out a short).
Measure the internal resistance of the mid-range clutch solenoid coil. If the multimeter reads infinite resistance (open) or zero/near-zero resistance (shorted), the solenoid has failed internally.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the machine and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent accidental short circuits during repair.
Locate the Solenoid
Locate the transmission control valve block on the side of the transmission housing. Identify the specific solenoid assigned to the mid-range clutch (refer to the specific model's hydraulic schematic if necessary).
Disconnect Wiring
Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty mid-range clutch solenoid.
Remove the Solenoid
Clean the area around the valve block to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system. Remove the retaining bolts/hardware holding the solenoid in place and carefully extract the solenoid valve from the manifold.
Install New Part
Lubricate the O-rings on the new transmission clutch solenoid with clean transmission fluid. Insert it into the valve block and torque the retaining hardware to OEM specifications.
Reassemble
Reconnect the electrical harness to the new solenoid.
Calibrate
Reconnect the battery. Use a diagnostic service tool to clear the TRANS 110 fault code. Because a clutch control component was replaced, you must perform a transmission/clutch calibration procedure to ensure smooth shifting and proper clutch engagement.
