New Holland TRANS 115 – Transmission Controller (TRANS): Odd clutch solenoid coil or its wiring shorted to power

The transmission controller has detected a short circuit to a +12V power source on the circuit responsible for operating the odd clutch solenoid. The short could be located within the wiring harness or caused by an internal failure (short) inside the solenoid coil itself.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness running from the transmission controller to the odd clutch solenoid (Connector No. 29) for chafed insulation, pinched wires, or melted loom that could cause a short to a +12V power wire.

   Disconnect the odd clutch solenoid and the transmission controller, then use a multimeter to check for continuity between the odd clutch solenoid signal wire and any power supply wires.

   Test the resistance of the odd clutch solenoid coil itself. If the resistance is out of specification (reading as a dead short), the coil has failed internally.

   Access the Valve Block

   Locate the transmission control valve block on the side of the transmission where the clutch solenoids are housed.

   Disconnect Wiring

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the Odd Clutch Solenoid.

   Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

   If your diagnostic tests revealed a short in the harness, repair the damaged section of wiring or replace the affected harness segment.

   Remove the Solenoid

   If the wiring is intact and the solenoid coil is internally shorted, remove the retaining hardware holding the odd clutch solenoid in the valve block.

   Extract and Prep

   Pull the faulty solenoid from the bore. Discard the old O-rings. Lubricate the new O-rings with clean transmission fluid and install them on the new solenoid.

   Install New Part

   Insert the new odd clutch solenoid into the valve block and torque the retaining hardware to OEM specifications.

   Reconnect and Test

   Reconnect the electrical connector. Clear the TRANS 115 fault code using a diagnostic tool or the tractor's display, then test operate the tractor to ensure it shifts properly and the code does not return.
