TRANS 130

New Holland TRANS 130 – Transmission Controller: Low range clutch is not calibrated.

Issue description

This code indicates that the transmission controller does not have valid calibration values (such as clutch fill time and engagement pressure) stored for the low range clutch pack. This condition typically occurs after a software update, a battery disconnect, replacement of the transmission controller, or when the clutch plates have worn to a point where the previously saved engagement parameters are no longer valid.

Applies to these machines

  • TG210
  • TG230
  • TG255
  • TG285
  • T6.110
  • T6.120
  • T6.130
  • T7030
  • T7040
  • T7050
  • T7060
  • T8010
  • T8030
  • T8.410
  • TM130
  • TM165
  • TS100A through TS135A

Check the cause

  1. Check transmission fluid temperature (must be at operating temperature, typically 60°C to 80°C / 140°F to 176°F) to prevent a U19 error.

  2. Check for active electrical fault codes for the low range clutch solenoid (e.g., TRANS 110) which would prevent calibration.

  3. Ensure the tractor is parked on level ground, parking brake is firmly applied, and the A/C is turned off to prevent engine load fluctuations.

Repair steps

  1. Apply the handbrake, depress the clutch pedal, and ensure the shuttle lever is in neutral.

    Prepare the tractor for calibration.

  2. With the tractor turned off, press and hold both the upshift (bunny) and downshift (turtle) buttons simultaneously, then start the engine.

    Initiate the calibration sequence.

  3. Release the buttons.

The digital display will enter calibration mode and show the current transmission oil temperature.

  4. Set the engine speed to the specified calibration RPM (usually 1200 ± 50 RPM).

Ensure the engine is running at the correct speed for calibration.

  5. Move the shuttle lever into the FORWARD position.

Engage the forward direction for calibration.

  6. Press the upshift (bunny) button to select the first clutch pack (Clutch A / Low Range).

Select the specific clutch to be calibrated.

  7. Press and hold the downshift (turtle) button to begin calibrating the selected clutch.

You will hear the engine RPMs fluctuate as the controller learns the clutch fill time and engagement point.

  8. Keep the button depressed until the engine speed stabilizes and the display indicates the calibration is complete.

The screen will usually show END or alternate the clutch letter with a calibration number.

  9. Release the downshift button. Press the upshift button to move to the next clutch (Clutch B, C, D, etc.) and repeat the holding process until all clutches are calibrated.

Calibrate all remaining clutches in sequence.

  10. Once all clutches are finished, turn the ignition key to the OFF position.

This saves the new calibration values to the transmission controller's memory.
