New Holland TRANS 132 – TRANS: High range clutch is not calibrated.

This condition occurs when the transmission controller lacks the necessary engagement calibration values for the high range clutch pack. This can happen if a new controller was installed, if the tractor's memory was reset, or if a previous calibration procedure was aborted due to an underlying mechanical or electrical failure (such as a faulty solenoid, invalid speed sensor signal, or clutch slippage).

   Check Operating Temperature: Ensure the transmission oil is warmed up to the stipulated operating temperature. Calibration cannot be performed with cold oil.

   Test Drive for Slippage (mechanical failure cause): Check whether the tractor speed is normal in the gears that utilize the high range clutch. Pay close attention to abnormal noises or sluggish gear engagement.

   Isolate the Clutch (mechanical failure cause): If you suspect the transmission is slipping, select different gears to identify exactly which clutch is slipping.

   Verify Speed Signals (sensor failure cause): If there is no sign of mechanical clutch slippage, check if the engine speed signal or transmission speed signal is invalid, which will abort a calibration attempt.

   Test the Solenoid (electrical failure cause): Check the high range clutch solenoid coil and wiring. Measure the resistance of the solenoid (should read between 8 to 11 Ohms) and check for a short to positive voltage or an open circuit.

   Prepare the Tractor

   Park the tractor on a level surface away from obstacles. Apply the parking brake, chock the front and rear wheels, and ensure the ground speed display reads zero.

   Warm Up the Transmission

   Run the tractor until the transmission fluid reaches the required calibration temperature (verified via the tractor's diagnostic menu).

   Enter Calibration Mode

   Access the transmission calibration mode. Depending on the specific model, this is done either via the HH diagnostic menu or by holding the shift lever to the left in neutral while turning the ignition on.

   Run the Calibration

   Follow the on-screen prompts to initiate the 'Automatic Clutch Calibration' or the individual high range clutch calibration.

   Evaluate Results

   If the calibration completes successfully, clear the fault codes and test drive the tractor. If the calibration aborts and throws a solenoid error (e.g., TRANS 122 / 2349), replace the high range clutch solenoid. If the calibration aborts due to speed signal errors, replace the transmission speed sensor. If the calibration fails due to mechanical slippage that cannot be resolved electronically, the transmission will need to be split to rebuild the high range clutch pack.
