New Holland TRANS 143 – Transmission Controller (TRANS): Front suspension position is above the upper suspension range.

The suspension control system is detecting that the front axle is sitting higher than its maximum calibrated limit, or the front suspension is failing to raise/lower properly when commanded by the control system.

   Inspect the front suspension position sensor, its mounting bracket, and the linkage ball stud for physical damage, bending, or mechanical binding.

   Inspect the wiring harness connecting the front suspension position sensor to the Transmission ECU for chafed wires, corrosion, open circuits, or a short to power/ground.

   Verify that the regulated hydraulic system pressure is adequate (must be above 290 PSI).

   Check the front suspension lower lock solenoid circuit to ensure it is not shorted or open.

   Attempt to recalibrate the front suspension via the Armrest Controller / Transmission calibration menu to see if the sensor lost its learned parameters.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a hard, level surface. Safely support the front frame of the tractor using appropriate jack stands and relieve all hydraulic system pressure.

   Disconnect

   Locate the front suspension position sensor on the front axle. Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the sensor.

   Removal

   Remove the position sensor link ball stud from the linkage. Then, remove the sensor mounting bolts and remove the faulty sensor from the bracket.

   Installation

   Position the new sensor onto the mounting bracket. Install and tighten the mounting bolts (standard OEM torque for position sensor mounting bolts is typically around 12 N.m / 106 lb in).

   Linkage Assembly

   Reattach the position sensor link ball stud to the linkage (standard torque is approximately 7 N.m / 62 lb in).

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical harness connector back into the new sensor.

   Calibration

   Turn the key on and use the tractor's Armrest display or a diagnostic service tool to perform a full Front Suspension Calibration so the Transmission ECU can learn the new sensor's upper and lower voltage limits.

   Testing

   Start the tractor and command the front suspension to raise and lower to verify smooth operation and ensure the TRANS 143 code does not return.
