TRANS 145

New Holland TRANS 145 – Transmission Controller (TRANS): Front Suspension lower lock solenoid circuit is shorted or open circuit

Issue description

The control module has detected an electrical fault in the circuit responsible for operating the front suspension's lower lock solenoid. The fault is either a short circuit (wiring touching ground or another power source) or an open circuit (a broken wire, disconnected plug, or burnt-out solenoid coil).

Applies to these machines

  • TG210
  • TG230
  • TG245
  • TG255
  • TG285
  • T9020
  • TV145
  • T6 Series
  • T8 Series
  • TM Series
  • TSA Series

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the Transmission controller and the front suspension control valve block for physical damage, corrosion, or loose pins

  2. Check the wiring for continuity to ensure there is no open circuit, and test for shorts to ground or power in the harness

  3. Measure the resistance of the lower lock solenoid coil to determine if it has failed internally (showing an open coil or a dead short)

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical damage during repair.

  2. Locate valve block

Locate the front suspension control valve block on or near the front axle.

  3. Disconnect connector

Disconnect the electrical connector from the lower lock solenoid.

  4. Repair wiring

If the diagnostic checks revealed a wiring issue, repair or replace the damaged section of the wiring harness.

  5. Remove solenoid

If the solenoid itself is faulty, remove the retaining nut or clip holding the solenoid coil to the valve cartridge.

  6. Install replacement

Slide the old solenoid off and install the replacement solenoid coil (or replace the entire control valve assembly if the cartridge is damaged).

  7. Reconnect harness

Reconnect the electrical harness and restore battery power.

  8. Clear fault codes

Clear the fault codes via the Armrest Controller or diagnostic tool.

  9. Perform calibration

Perform a front suspension calibration procedure as outlined in the service manual to ensure the suspension travel range is correctly learned by the controller.
