New Holland TRANS 147 – Transmission Controller (TRANS / TCU): Regulated system pressure below 290 PSI
Issue description
The transmission controller is monitoring the regulated hydraulic system pressure, and the sensor has detected that the pressure has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold of 290 PSI.

Check the cause
Verify Actual Pressure: Connect a mechanical hydraulic pressure gauge to the transmission regulated pressure test port to see if the pressure has actually dropped.
Hydraulic vs. Electrical Isolation: If the mechanical gauge shows the regulated pressure is genuinely low, the issue is hydraulic. You must follow standard hydraulic troubleshooting procedures (checking the hydraulic pump, filters, fluid levels, and pressure regulating valves).
Hydraulic vs. Electrical Isolation: If the mechanical gauge shows the regulated pressure is within the specified normal range, the fault code is being triggered by a faulty system pressure sensor or a circuit issue.
Circuit Testing: Troubleshoot the sensor circuit by viewing the Instrumentation display to check the sensor's voltage output. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors for shorts to ground, open circuits, bent pins, or corrosion.
Repair steps
Prepare machine for service
Park the machine on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.
Verify baseline regulated pressure
Install a mechanical pressure gauge on the transmission test port and start the tractor to verify the baseline regulated pressure.
Inspect and repair hydraulic components (if pressure is low)
If pressure is low: Inspect the transmission hydraulic filters for restrictions. Check the transmission charge pump and the regulated pressure valve for wear or sticking. Repair or replace the failing hydraulic component.
Locate transmission regulated pressure sensor
If pressure is normal: Locate the transmission regulated pressure sensor on the transmission valve block.
Inspect sensor wiring harness and connectors
Disconnect the sensor's wiring harness. Inspect the connector cavities for loose or damaged pins.
Check sensor wiring continuity
Using a multimeter, check the continuity of the sensor wiring back to the Transmission Controller to rule out a broken wire or short.
Remove faulty transmission pressure sensor
If the wiring is intact and the mechanical pressure is verified as good, unthread and remove the faulty transmission pressure sensor.
Install new pressure sensor
Install the new OEM pressure sensor and torque to factory specifications.
Reconnect wiring and test operate
Reconnect the wiring harness, clear the fault codes via the instrumentation panel or diagnostic tool, and test operate the tractor to ensure the code does not return.
