New Holland TRANS 2009 – Transmission Controller (TCU) or Armrest Controller Module (ARU / ATC): Seat switch open circuit

This code indicates that the controller is not detecting a closed circuit from the operator presence seat switch when the seat is supposed to be occupied. The system cannot verify that the operator is in the seat, which is a critical safety and operational parameter for the transmission and PTO systems.

   Visual Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness and connector located directly under the operator's seat. Look for pinched, broken, or disconnected wires.

   Continuity Test: Disconnect the seat switch and use a multimeter to test it for continuity. The switch should show an open circuit when the seat is empty and a closed circuit (continuity) when weight is applied to the seat cushion.

   Voltage Check: Verify that the switch is receiving its supply voltage (either Battery B+ or a 5-volt reference signal, depending on the model) from the controller.

   Power down the machine and turn the ignition off.

   Locate the operator presence switch, which is typically mounted under the bottom seat cushion or integrated into the air suspension base.

   Disconnect the 2-pin or 4-pin electrical connector from the seat switch harness.

   If the wiring harness is damaged, repair the broken wires or replace the seat switch sub-harness.

   If the switch failed the continuity test, unbolt or unclip the faulty switch from the seat frame and install the new OEM replacement switch.
