New Holland TRANS 2048 – Transmission Controller (ATC / Trans): Bottom of Clutch pedal switch or the bottom of clutch relay are short circuit.

The controller is detecting a continuous electrical short in the circuit for the Bottom of Clutch (BOC) switch or its associated relay, making the system believe the clutch pedal is fully depressed or the circuit is bypassed.

   Mechanical Inspection: Check the clutch pedal assembly for a loose or mechanically misadjusted clutch pedal stop. If the pedal travels too far or not far enough, it can trigger switch faults.

   Switch Range Test: The system expects the BOC switch to close when the inching (clutch) pedal position is greater than 12% of its calibrated range, and open when the pedal is less than 2% of its calibrated range. Use a multimeter to verify the switch opens and closes at these physical thresholds.

   Relay Test: Locate the clutch relay in the cab fuse/relay panel. Swap it with a known good relay of the same amperage. If the code changes to an open circuit (like TRANS 2037) or clears, the relay is internally shorted.

   Wiring Harness Check: Disconnect the BOC switch and the clutch relay. Test the wiring harness leading back to the Transmission Controller for a short to ground or a short to 12V power.

   Secure the Machine

   Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

   Access the Pedal Assembly

   Remove the lower dash/console panels to access the clutch pedal linkage, the clutch pedal position potentiometer, and the Bottom of Clutch (BOC) switch.

   Adjust or Replace the Switch

   If the switch is physically stuck closed, replace it. If the switch works but is out of alignment, adjust the mounting bracket so the switch plunger is properly depressed/released at the bottom of the pedal stroke.

   Replace the Relay

   If the switch and wiring test fine, access the power distribution board (fuse box) and replace the clutch relay.

   Repair Wiring

   If a short is found in the harness, trace the wire from the cab floor to the ATC module, repair the chafed/melted section, and secure it with heat-shrink tubing and loom.

   Recalibrate

   After replacing transmission/clutch control components, you will likely need to perform a transmission clutch calibration using the tractor's display or the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST).
