New Holland TRANS 2059 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU / TRANS): Shuttle Lever switch disagree

The transmission controller is receiving contradictory signals from the forward, neutral, and reverse switches inside the shuttle lever assembly (e.g., both forward and neutral, reverse and neutral, or forward and reverse). Because of these crossed signals, the controller cannot determine the operator's intended direction of travel.

   Rapidly cycle the shuttle lever back and forth between forward and reverse to free up physically stuck internal micro-switches.

   Try driving the tractor in the opposite direction of the intended travel to see if the system resets or recognizes the input.

   Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at the base of the shuttle lever on the steering column for chafed wires, short circuits, or corrosion.

   Turn off the tractor, apply the parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery cable.

   Remove the steering column shrouds/trim panels to expose the base of the shuttle lever assembly.

   Locate and disconnect the electrical harness connector attached to the shuttle lever switch.

   Unbolt the mounting screws securing the faulty shuttle lever to the steering column and remove the unit.

   Install the new shuttle lever assembly and secure it with the mounting screws.

   Reconnect the electrical harness connector, ensuring it clicks firmly into place.

   Reinstall the steering column shrouds and trim panels.

   Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and test the forward, neutral, and reverse functions.

   Ensure the transmission engages properly and the TRANS 2059 code is cleared.
